LAKE
The Lake rug was the first of a series of rugs originally designed for a cottage in the White Shell in central Canada. The interior predominantly consisted of solid larch for floor, walls and ceiling. The color of Lake needed to recognize its surrounding and enhance the material pallet. A custom adaptation of the warm grey family was chosen to connect with the warm wood tones.
The inset rectangle introduced a golden yellow or soft blue color; it further was dimensioned to indicate the placement of two 42-inch square Carrara marble tables. The use of 75% Viscose and 25% New Zealand wool, enhanced the texture of the geometric shapes, giving each surface sheen, and shade depending on the position of each knot.
The rug was custom dimensioned at 16 x 14 feet, to allow a large custom sectional to be placed in its entirety on the rug.
